For over 80 years, Plan International has been a global network striving for a just world that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.
Powered by our supporters, we partner with adolescent girls and children in 54,000 communities around the world to overcome oppression and gender inequality. We provide support and resources unique to their needs, ensuring they achieve their full potential with dignity, opportunity and safety.
We know that sustainable change is only possible with local ownership. So we’ve developed GirlEngage, the first and only approach to development that’s letting girls lead the way.
Our work with the girls is collaborative. We don’t see them as beneficiaries, but rather as partners, and drivers of change. They are the experts in knowing how their lives are affected by inequality, and we are the experts in creating sustainable solutions.
“I am from India and still have family and friends there. What resonates with me about Plan is helping girls back in India by encouraging education and providing information of the importance of health.”— DEBIPRIYA CHATTERJEE
Plan India opened its office in 1979. Today, it operates in 25 states and across thousands of communities. Plan India’s program areas include child protection, education, economic empowerment, disaster response, water and sanitation, and maternal and child health.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Plan India has also been focusing on training officials at the Nepal border on preventing cross-border transmission and mobilizing prevention awareness in hundreds of villages.
We’ve already impacted the lives of over a million girls and boys in India. And we’ve got even bigger plans for the future.
